The subclass 191 visa is a pathway for existing regional provisional visa holders (subclass 491 or 494) to apply for permanent residency and eventually Australian citizenship if eligible. This visa is set to come into effect in November 2022; therefore, the details for this visa have not been finalised yet. However, the following information has been released by the Department.
⦁ hold an eligible visa for at least three years.
⦁ provide notices of assessment issued by the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) for three income years out of the five years of your eligible visa. There is no minimum income requirement.
⦁ have complied with the conditions of the eligible visa you hold or have held.
You can be in or outside Australia when you apply for the visa and when we decide on your application. You cannot be in immigration clearance.
⦁ stay in Australia permanently.
⦁ work and study in Australia
⦁ enrol in Australia’s public health care scheme, Medicare
⦁ sponsor your relatives to come to Australia.
⦁ travel to and from Australia for 5 years
⦁ if eligible, apply for Australian citizenship.
The visa costs AUD475.00 for the main applicant.
The visa costs AUD240.00 for each additional applicant who is at least 18.
The visa costs AUD120.00 for each additional applicant who is less than 18.
You might also have to pay other costs for health checks, police certificates and biometrics.
