Skilled Nominated Visa (Subclass 190)

The Subclass 190 visa (Skilled Nominated) is a points-based visa that allows skilled workers who are nominated by an Australian state or territory government to live and work in Australia as a permanent resident. This is a permanent visa that can be lodged from within or outside Australia.  Applicants must first submit an EOI using Skills Select, be nominated by a State or Territory government agency, and receive an invitation to apply for the visa.

With Subclass 190, You can

⦁ stay in Australia permanently.
⦁ work and study in Australia
⦁ enrol in Australia’s public health care scheme, Medicare
⦁ sponsor your relatives to come to Australia.
⦁ travel to and from Australia for 5 years
⦁ if eligible, become an Australian citizen

Applying for a subclass 190

⦁ have an occupation on the relevant skilled list
⦁ have a suitable skills assessment for the occupation.
⦁ be invited to apply for this visa.
⦁ satisfy the points test.

Eligibility Requirements

⦁ An occupation on the relevant occupation list
⦁ A successful skills assessment for the relevant occupation
⦁ At least competent English
⦁ Be under 45 years of age at the time of invitation.
⦁ Must have minimum 65 points or higher.
⦁ Be Invited to apply.
⦁ Meet the health and character requirements.

Visa Commitment

The State Governments will usually request a two-year commitment to living and working in the nominated state or territory before the government considers nominating. They may conduct an integrity check of continued residence for those nominated for a subclass 190 visa.

Skills Assessments and English test results

Skill Assessments are valid for three years unless otherwise stated and English language results are valid for three years. It is important to make certain your Skills Assessment and English language results remain valid, as they must be valid at the time you receive an invitation.
